| First Ave Historic High school in Glen Burnie |
The First Ave Building was originally built in the late 1800’s for general use and was later turned into an elementary school which was eventually developed into the 1st Glen Burnie High School. The school used the First Ave building from 1923, starting with only a freshman and sophomore class which served the entire Northern end of Anne Arundel County for a number of years. The first graduating class, in 1926, had only four members. However, population growth in the school area, soon led to serious overcrowding at the First Avenue Building. Additional classes were held in the Old Town Hall, a frame building adjacent to the school.
Baldwin Homes is pleased to be reviving this former school building to a new and improved use. In the future, Baldwin Homes plans to restore the historic building back to its original state and develop the building into condominium units.
